5 Brand New UK Attractions to visit in 2016

Kynren: An epic tale of England – Durhamkynren-06

Probably the star attraction opening this year in the UK is Kynren – A live action 90 minute night show on a huge scale telling the story of England’s rich history from the Roman times to the industrial revolution. Located at Auckland Castle in Durham, the stage covers 7.5 acres and 1000 volunteers and a variety of pyrotechnics, special effects water effects and more will create a spectacular show!

The show comes from an already successful theme park in France – Puy du Fou where France’s history is brought to life through live action shows. There are 14 shows on weekends this summer July to September. I think this could become one of Britain’s great attractions and it could grow into a theme park similar to the one in France. Given the location it isn’t one of the easiest places to get to, however, the show is gonna be an amazing spectacle and I will definitely be attending one of the nights!

British Music Experience – Liverpool452983

The British Music Experience is relocating from its previous home at the O2 in London to Liverpool’s Cunard Building. Liverpool is a great place to have this museum with a lot of the exhibitions items from popular artists from Liverpool such as the Beatles. The exhibition also features hundreds of rare artefacts and manuscripts including David Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust costumes. Set to open in 2016, not a lot of information is available yet as recently BME was searching for an operator for the attraction, so might be pushed back to late 2016. I didn’t get the chance to visit the experience in London so will take the chance to visit in Liverpool when open.

Arcellormittal Orbit Slide – Londonstream_img

The Arcellormittal Orbit is a observation tower as part of the Olympic Park when opened in Summer 2012, although recent visitor numbers have been slow, so a new Slide will open this Spring in time for the Rio Olympics. This won’t be your average slide though, it will take visitors from the observation floor to the ground down 178 metres at 15mph and slidewill be the worlds longest and tallest tunnel slide! The views at the top of the Orbit structure are brilliant themselves overlooking the Olympic Park and London’s Skyline, along with sliding back to the ground through transparent sections this is certainly worth a visit and what better time to visit the Olympic Park than 4 years after London 2012 and during Rio 2016.

The surrounding area includes Westfield Stratford – the largest shopping mall in Europe! plus not too far away is the O2, the Emirates Air Line Cable Car system, the attractions of Greenwich and of course the Queen Elizabeth Olympic park to explore.
